David Leander |
David began his career working for Doctors In Touch (DIT), a physician-owned company that specialized in providing educational material, as well as risk management services for physicians and surgeons. For 3 years, David was the Chief Operating Officer for DIT and oversaw the development of The Online Patient Satisfaction Survey, the Cultural Sensitivity Course, and all of the material regarding “what to do in the event of an adverse outcome.” In 2006, David left DIT to oversee marketing for Cunningham Group, one of the oldest independent agencies specializing in Medical Malpractice Insurance in the country. David quickly moved into sales and helped develop a new company, MyMedicalMalpracticeInsurance.com (MMMI), which he ran from 2007 to 2015. MMMI was rolled under the Cunningham Group (cunninghamgroupins.com) brand and David still leads this sales team. “Cunningham Group afforded me the opportunity to strengthen my professional liability experience, and when the opportunity to start My Medical Malpractice Insurance came along, I had to take a chance to prove I could help physicians all over the country, not the handful of states CG works in.”

Vision of the Oasis Psychiatry Conferences
The Goal
Live Your Best Life
Aligned Action for Authentic Living
To live your best life means acting in alignment with your core values and goals. Since the work environment – and all of life – are complicated, it is often hard to do so. Let Oasis help you clarify your goals by presenting myriad career options; take control over your day-to-day work activities by presenting detailed ways of managing patients, their families, staff, and clinic procedures; and plan the changes you commit to make. It’s not enough simply to avoid burnout when we can flourish instead. Live authentically. Join us to turn your potential into actuality.
Mastery
Knowledge, skill, and creativity are required to provide the best care to patients, to live the good life, to fulfill commits to family and friends, and to do so sustainably over the course of a long life and career. Let Oasis provide you with the guidance to act with more confidence and mastery. The Oasis 5 ELEMENTS editorial approach is designed to address thriving now in your current position and managing your career over the long-term. When treating patients, the greatest challenges go beyond choosing one treatment intervention over another and often involve forms of patient acting out that must be contained and channeled. And when considering your career, multiple pitfalls must be avoided when changing positions, rethinking career objectives, considering other career options, and planning full or partial retirement. Join us at Oasis and leave knowing what to do and what to avoid doing.
Connection and Community
Isolation leads to higher rates of burnout, a sense of burden, and unhappiness. A person, on their own, is necessarily limited in their knowledge, skills, and perspective. At Oasis you will join a community of clinicians all working to make their own and other people’s lives better. Learn from others, receive guidance, help others, brainstorm and leave with a clear action plan. Make connections with colleagues to stay motivated and on track.
The Plan
Oasis 5 Elements
To produce positive life transformation, changes undertaken should be holistic and address the major areas of daily activity. Thus, Oasis covers the following content areas during the conference:
1.Disorders and Their Treatments
At Oasis, you learn to manage complex and treatment-resistant cases: you receive a real-world clinical focus, up-to-date data, and master-level psychopharmacology with detailed prescribing guidance.
2.Patient and Family
Take a 360-degree view of patients and their unique resources and challenges. Address problems beyond the psychiatric disorder: treatment non-adherence, risk-taking behaviors, risk of suicide or violence, patient or family acting-out, and drug-seeking behaviors.
3.Heal Your Clinic
Eliminate recurring and foreseeable challenges presented by patients, families, and staff. Develop robust, easy-to-follow, and fair clinic procedures. Detailed strategies and sample scripts are provided. You won’t believe how much stress these approaches simply wipe away.
4.Your Career Action Plan
Get to the heart of what drives you and develop a career plan that aligns with your deepest values and life goals. This year’s conference includes presentations on Setting Up a Telepsychiatry Practice and on Setting Up a Direct Pay Model Practice.
5.Clinician Well-Being
Learn techniques to increase your life satisfaction, improve your health, and decrease stress and burnout. Attend yoga sessions, guided imagery exercises, an ice-breaker reception, family-fun activities, and make (possibly life-long) friends.
