Charles H. Zeanah, Jr, MD is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in infant and early childhood mental health and a senior faculty member at Tulane University School of Medicine. As the Mary Peters Sellars-Polchow Chair in Psychiatry and Vice Chair for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, he directs the Institute for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and contributes broadly to research, clinical care, and policy in the field. Dr. Zeanah’s research focuses on the impact of adverse early experiences—such as trauma, abuse, neglect, and deprivation—on young children’s development and on evidence-based interventions to promote recovery and resilience. He has shaped our understanding of early childhood psychopathology, attachment disorders, and developmental trajectories following early psychosocial adversity, and has published extensively, including serving as editor of the Handbook of Infant Mental Health. Dr. Zeanah’s distinguished career includes major awards and leadership roles that reflect his enduring influence on infant and early childhood mental health practice and research. |
