Suicide Management Course

Working with patients at risk

Do You Know the #1 Source of Stress for Psychiatrists?
It’s Dealing with Patients’ Suicide Risk

REGISTER FOR FREE NOW

If you feel being a psychiatrist is stressful, you are not alone. I asked participants at our recent MasterPsych Conference to rate their level of work-related stress. The most common self-rating was “Moderate stress” chosen by about half the respondents and the second most common rating was “Extreme stress – I’m ready to quit my job” chosen by 19% of respondents.

And do you know the #1 source of stress for psychiatrists? Respondents chose “dealing with patients’ suicide risk.”

Course Highlights

  • Gain mastery over the most stress-inducing aspect of psychiatric practice.
  • Learn to better manage suicidal patients with the SPaRR Method “Suicide Pathways of Risk and Recovery”
  • Learn to conduct a detailed and systematic assessment, including with the use of checklists
  • Master DBT & CBT techniques specific to treating patients at suicidal risk
  • Implement Mindfulness and Problem-Solving techniques to lower suicide risk
  • Learn to avoid the three oversights that can lead to medical malpractice suits
  • Learn what to do in the event of a patient’s suicide
  • Take advantage of this free course to help you do your best.

WHY AM I OFFERING THIS FREE ONLINE PSYCHIATRY COURSE?

For 14 years I held psychiatry oral board prep courses and had the opportunity to observe and evaluate nearly 3000 psychiatrists as they interviewed patients and/or presented cases. What I learned is that suicide assessment and management skills are not universally taught during residency and fellowship training.

Assessing and managing patients at risk of suicide is not, and will never be, easy. I believe, however, that an up-to-date review of the knowledge base related to suicide risk, assessment and management, as well as specific training in skills relevant to managing high-risk patients, will improve patient care and clinician confidence and decrease stress.

I’m grateful for the confidence that tens of thousands of physicians have in me and who have attended our courses. It’s time to give back. Therefore, I invite all interested psychiatrists and psychiatrists-in-training, as well as psychologists and therapists, to register for this free 15 hour course on Suicide Management.

Yours in living to the fullest,
