Notable Achievements:

  • Dr. Freeman established the University of Arizona’s Women’s Mental Health Program in 2000 and directed the program for seven years. She developed a research program in perinatal depression with grant support from NARSAD, the National Institute of Mental Health, the U.S. FDA, the Arizona Disease Control Research Commission, and the Institute for Mental Health Research. These grants supported research in perinatal depression. From 2007-8, she served as the Director of the Women’s Mental Health Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
  • She serves as Vice Editor-in-Chief for The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry since 2007, after serving as Deputy Editor since 2003. She chaired a subcommittee on Omega-3 Fatty Acids in Psychiatry, on behalf of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). She currently chairs the APA’s Task Force on Complementary and Alternative Medicine. She served on the APA’s Major Depressive Disorder Treatment Guideline Revision.

  • Dr. King studies psychopathology in persons with developmental disabilities, and potential treatments for persons with these conditions. His primary focus is repetitive self-injurious behavior (SIB). He has explored animal models of self-biting with the aim of better understanding the causes of SIB in persons with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.
  • King is currently involved in studies of the safety and effectiveness of medications to treat behavioral disturbances in persons with ASD. He is also interested in exploring better ways to collect data in clinical trials involving this population.

Notable Achievements:

  • Dr. Silver is a Fellow and past- President of the American Neuropsychiatric Association. He is a Diplomate in Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS), and is Chair of their examination committee. In addition, he is a member of the examination committee for the new specialty of Brain Injury Medicine.
  • He has held past positions as Director of Neuropsychiatry at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, and Assistant Chair of Clinical Services and Research in the Department of Psychiatry at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
  • He has authored over 45 papers and 60 chapters, focusing on the neuropsychiatric problems subsequent to traumatic brain injury and the pharmacologic treatment of those problems. He has lectured widely on these topics, and has made over 160 presentations at scientific meetings. He is senior editor of the books “Neuropsychiatry of Traumatic Brain Injury,” and “Textbook of Traumatic Brain Injury”, which has just published the second edition. He received the award for “Innovative Clinical Treatment” from NABIS in 2010.

David Archibald Award for Outstanding Research and/or Practice in the Addictions, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Toronto and Distinguished Fellow, American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Weiss serves as the Vice President of Greater Boston Council of Alcoholism and has served as a member of the Treatment Research Committee on the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
  • Dr. Weiss serves on the editorial board of numerous journals including the American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse and is a reviewer for more than 15 scholarly medical journals. He has published more than 300 journal articles and book chapters, as well as researching in the field of alcohol and drug abuse for more than 25 years.

  • Dr. Wolkowitz has been on faculty at the UCSF School of Medicine for over 20 years. Prior to that, he received his psychiatric training at Stanford University and completed a fellowship in psychopharmacology at the National Institute of Mental Health. His teaching, clinical work and research are in the areas of stress, depression, and anxiety disorders.
  • Dr. Wolkowitz has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and co-edited the American Psychiatric Press Inc.'s textbook, Psychoneuroendocrinology: The Scientific Basis of Clinical Practice (2003). In recognition of his work, Dr. Wolkowitz has received several awards, including the Curt P. Richter Prize of the International Society of Psychoneuroendocrinology (1992) and annual citations in ”Best Doctors of America“ since 1994.
